At approximately 7:40 a.m., a student was walking to school on Olopua Street (one-way street). As he approached the Manoa Road intersection, a man in a vehicle traveling in the same direction stopped to speak to him. The male driver looked out the passenger side window and asked the student, "Do you want candy?" The child ran to school and reported the incident to his teacher. The incident was then reported to HPD.
The vehicle was described as a white, small pickup truck. It had rust on the front bumper and a sticker of an aloha shirt on the passenger side front fender. The driver was described as an Asian male possibly in his 50s. He was wearing a bamboo hat with a white string used as a chinstrap for the hat.
Contact the police and Manoa School if you have any information about this vehicle or individual.
Please continue to remind your children of: (1) being aware of their surroundings, (2) stranger-danger, (3) walking in groups when leaving campus, and (4) report any unusual behaviors to the adults. We will also continue to reinforce this message to all of our students. Thank you for your support.
