Who May Apply

All teachers and staff at Hokulani Elementary School can apply for grants under this program. Teachers and staff may apply individually or collaboratively.

How to Apply

Applications may be left in the Aikane O' Hokulani mailbox. The Aikane O' Hokulani Grant Committee will review applications.

How the Grant Works

The approval criteria and grant terms and conditions are listed below. If you have additional questions, please email Aikane O' Hokulani at [email protected]

Grant Committee

The Grant Committee comprises the Aikane O' Hokulani President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, the school Principal, Teacher Advocate, and parent members.

Grant Criteria

  1. Grants are solely funded for Hokulani Elementary School Students in Grades PreK-5.
  2. The Grant Program aims to benefit as many students as possible.
  3. Grants will only be given to projects/items that support in-house programs.
  4. Proposals denied solely because of insufficient Grant Funds are encouraged to be resubmitted the following year and will receive preferential consideration.
  5. Aikane O' Hokulani Grant Funding will not be awarded for projects or materials usually provided by the school district.
  6. Reimbursing of PD supplies/books will not be considered through this process.

Grant Terms and Conditions

  1. All items purchased through the Aikane O' Hokulani Grant Program become the property of Hokulani Elementary School (Hawaii Department of Education).
  2. Aikane O' Hokulani will collect Grant Request forms at the end of each school year for the next school year's budget. All approved grants will be paid directly to Hokulani Elementary School at the start of the new school year. Payment for items/projects/field trips/others will be distributed by the School Administrative Service Assistant (SASA). Additional requests may be submitted throughout the school year and will be reviewed at the next scheduled Aikane O' Hokulani meeting (please plan accordingly if there is a deadline for your purchase.)
  3. Receipts must be turned in within ten days of the event to be reimbursed on time. Please do not collect receipts to be reimbursed at the end of the school year.
  4. After students have benefited from the grant (or begun to benefit in the case of an ongoing program), grant recipients agree to submit a brief (one-page) report to Aikane O'Hokulani. The report will describe the project or activity and explain how students have benefited from the grant. Aikane O' Hokulani looks forward to celebrating, promoting, and publicizing the efforts of the grant recipients and their accomplishments with the grant program. If appropriate, grant recipients are invited to submit materials that could help showcase their projects. Information from the reports and any other submitted materials may be used in the Hokulani Elementary School newsletters, website, and during appropriate school events (Give Aloha, Fall Fair, Fun Run). The more parents and teachers are made aware of the benefits of the Aikane O' Hokulani grant program, the more significant support it will have in years to come.

Aikane O' Hokulani, thank you for participating In this program and for all the careful and creative thought and hard work your application represents. Your efforts and dedication enrich our school community.
